Review: Here Comes the Bride
-----
i'm not typically into the Pinoy movie scenes. it's always the same story, different characters. but once in a while i do get to see some few gems along the way.
one would be Here comes the bride. a comedy starring Eugene Domingo and Angelica Panganiban. i love watching Eugene for her comical prowess. for the inner gay in me, she connects to me. and almost all of her quips, leave me laughing out loud.
i was able to catch the movie with a good gay friend/officemate. i didn't set any expectations about the story. all i wanted was a good laugh. and the movie delivered. there were a lot of quips and moments that left the whole moviehouse laughing and even squealing, from kilig or diri, i wouldn't know.
for a moment there, i totally forgot all the worries, the drama and the stress for that week. for an hour and a half, i was laughing my heart out. laughing really out loud.
favorite scenes can be found in the movie's trailer:
this movie will definitely be one of those i'd love to watch again and again.

buying a book for the first time again
it felt like i was 6 again when i had my first taste of purchasing a book of my choice. that time if i remember, it was a sweet valley teens novel. and it felt good. so good that i started saving up whatever's left of my measly allowance just so i can buy a book monthly. i was hooked.
and after all these years, it happened all over again. i got to buy a book. a novel. something concrete that i can hold and sleep beside with at night. and i missed the feeling so much.
i bought the time traveler's wife, a novel by audrey niffenegger. i got hooked when i heard it was going to be adapted into a movie. saw the trailer and found it to be a potentially good movie. but i decided to read the book first. i wanted to get a feel of the story between these two people.
and now i can't wait to curl up in our bed and read a few chapters before i fall asleep. i just hope i don't read it too fast that by the time i go into labor i've got nothing to do or to read.
it just feels good to have a good book to come home to right? :)
here's the trailer for the movie:

thanks to a booboo by a site for publishing the poster online a day in advance.

PS I Love You
I finally set up the laptop on my side of the bed, aishi asked what I’m going to watch. He said he’ll take a look for a good few minutes of the movie then head off to sleep. But wouldn’t you know, he was there beside me from start to finish. With a few side comments on the side. Not necessarily in connection to the movie. But more of a lambing hirit.
At the start of the movie, tears were welling up in my eyes already. It was that good. There were lines that were worth taking note of and remembering forever. Aishi was puzzled why I was crying on certain scenes of the movie. To which I retorted: hindi ka ban a-touch sa sinabi? Hindi ka ba affected sa situation? And to which the answer was, hindi, eh movie lang yan eh.
Fine. Great. So much for a sensitive husband eh?
All in all, I loved the book, and I loved the movie. This one will be in my list of movies to watch over and over again.
And of course, this post wouldn’t be complete without the quotable-quotes:
Gerry : [holding Holly by the shoulders] What do you want? I know what I want, cause I'm holding it in my hands.
Gerry Kennedy: [calms Holly] Every morning I still wake up and the first thing I want to do is to see your face.
Gerry Kennedy: Dear Holly, I don't have much time. I don't mean literally, I mean you're out buying ice cream and you'll be home soon. But I have a feeling this is the last letter, because there is only one thing left to tell you. It isn't to go down memory lane or make you buy a lamp, you can take care of yourself without any help from me. It's to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful... literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you're sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you'll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I'm a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I'm just one chapter in yours. There'll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don't be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you.
Now let’s all say awww…
Oh and did I mention, Gerard Butler is one hot man. And the accent… *swoon*
Now, I have to get the other books by Cecilia ahern. And she’s just my age… galling!!

go speedracer go!
the upside of this, i was able to buy 2 cute sandals for work. yey!
so anyway, on to speedracer.
i'm not going to go into the full movie review thing. i'm not going to pretend i'm this expert on movies. so i'll just post as a typical blogger who was able to watch a movie - after all these years. the last time i was able to watch a movie was... a long time ago. see, i can't even remember the last movie i saw.
but i digress. on with the comments:
> the film was colorful. vivid, striking, in your face colors. it was like watching a comic book come to life.
> the cgi was superb. but quite dizzying especially the racing part.
> obviously it was directed by the matrix directors. the signature matrix "chenes" we all know.
> everytime we see Rain, we can't help but snicker and remember his clear commercial.
> i find cristina ricci a bit old for the role of trixie. but i guess she looks quite cartoonish to fit the part.
> there were some parts that were quite dragging that i can't help but make chika with ple while watching. hehe sorry ple!
> overall, it's a light movie that the kids would enjoy. i think mine will with their love for cars and all.
but we are still looking forward to watching Ironman soon. :P

a graduation speech that brought tears

if you watched the movie JACK, you'll understand and perhaps relate to this one...
Woodruff: Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to introduce this year's valedictorian, Jack Charles Howell.
Eric: Yo, Jack, go get 'em.
Howell: I got it, Eric. I'm cool...my speech. I don't have very much time these days, so I'll make it quick -- like my life. You know, as we come to the end of this phase of our life, we find ourselves trying to remember the good times and trying to forget the bad times. And we find ourselves thinking about the future. We start to worry, thinking, "What am I gonna do? Where am I gonna be in ten years?"
But I say to you, "Hey, look at me." Please, don't worry so much, 'cause in the end none of us have very long on this earth. Life is fleeting. And if you're ever distressed, cast your eyes to the summer sky, when the stars are strung across the velvety night, and when a shooting star streaks through the blackness turning night into day -- make a wish think of me. And make your life spectacular. I know I did.
I made it, Mom. I'm a grown-up.
Thank you.
dancing with two left feet

during the holy week, we were able to catch up with our dvd collections. we watched step up 2 the streets. and i must say, it was an entertaining movie. upbeat and light at the same time.
we weren't up for some heavy movies to watch at that time so this was a fitting movie to watch.
we actually enjoyed watching. makes you wish you have the talents of a dancer. that's what aishi and i thought after watching.
but personally that wouldn't happen to me because, for the life of me, i can't dance that way. one, it scares me, two, i don't have the flexibility of jello to begin with.
so i'll just stick to dancing in my head where i'm the expert in everything. ha!
now, must find the prequel to this one to get the story.
