this recession got me depressed

it's sales report day again and i have succumbed into depression. all my updates were pending accounts and sadly no closed sale for this month. most of the pending accounts that i have would book starting june or july. and it's quite depressing to submit a mediocre report to my boss who expects so much.

times are definitely hard right now. i've even resorted to begging my contacts/clients to speed up the approvals so that we could at least book an ad placement. but no dice. people are really holding on to their cash for dear life.

i sure hope that next month would be positive for us and the business.

positivity

a colleague sent out his requisite farewell email to the group today. it was his last day at work.

it was a string of thanks and good memories shared with the whole group. it was really heartwarming.

until i came to the part where he said his thanks to me. he thanked me for all the positive feedback i gave him for all the projects that were assigned to him. i didn't realize that this would have a positive impact on him and how massive a simple gesture of good job, great work had on him. and me.

it felt good that i did something good and made an impact on someone. gosh! this is such a great feeling! so amazing and overwhelming at the same time. so this is what it feels like on the other side of the fence.

now i;m sending all this positive energy to whoever gets to read this. i am happy now and i hope this lasts until the next week. what a good feeling this is!

just a sinking feeling

Some friends know that I love to rant about anything and everything. I find it as my coping mechanism to somehow not breakdown and get all crazy about something that wound me up. Whether it’s about work, personal stuff or just something that bothered me out of the blue. I just need to let it out or else it would just consume me like acid melting some material. That bad.

Just this afternoon, I had this sudden sinking feeling that for some reason I have come to realize that I’m the one losing in this set up at work. It feels as if the accounts that I handled before that I tried to bring over the digital side was taken from me and at the same time began to realize that they do need digital in their lives. Considering the fact that I am an AE for digital. How sad and ironic can that get? It feels as if I’m starting all over again. On the bright side it is a welcome challenge to excel and exceed expectations, but the depressing thing in this scenario is that after all the efforts of convincing, some other person would reap the rewards. Quite painful but nothing to cry over I guess.

I just need it to get it off my chest or else this would really affect how I work in the coming days. Now all I need is one last rant to hubby before we sleep then all would be better.

changes

a lot of things has happened the past few weeks. it may have been the reason why i was so stressed and tired everyday. the only consolation i had was i had unlimited internet access in the office where i can de-stress even for a bit. take a few minutes off work and just relax.

as much as i wanted to blog about things, i tend to forget.

so anyway, here are the few things that happened:

speaking of changes, one big change happened here in the office. our digital publisher resigned, my sales manager resigned, my new partner resigned. which leaves me all alone in our sales department. the downside to this arrangement is that all the pressure is on me. all the quota is on me. the silver lining that i can see as of this moment is that, all the efforts i exert in this would be all mine. really.

but then, it is kinda lonely now going to meetings and presentations.

but as hubby said, he has faith in me. i can do it. which i'd like to think so. i think the universe has conspired to give me a chance to prove myself and my worth to the company i have been dreaming of working for.

and i guess now's the time to step up and make myself known.

don't you think?

goodbye galle, you've been great

in the 4 months i have been working, you have been a great source of solitude and ideas as i walk your tiled floors thinking of creative ideas.

you have been good, but sadly i must bid you farewell, and see you again when i do get the chance to walk your halls and window shop in your stores.

now it's time to move on. this time to a real office in a building with elevators and where you have to go to the ground floor from the 6th floor for a quick yosi break.

i/we shall miss you.

Shine @ Yahoo

Got an email this morning from one of my officemates and it caught my attention. Yahoo has brewed something new:

Yahoo has launched Shine, a new content portal aimed at women aged 25 to 54.

At its core, Shine is a large blog with magazine style layout. Content is broken up into various subcategories with the front page highlighting the newest content from across the site. Topic areas include parenting, sex and love, healthy living, food, career and money, entertainment, fashion, beauty, home life, and astrology.

Are you willing to try it out? the site looks new but interesting. and banks on UGC or user generated content.

6 years...

I’m going to meet up with my college friends after 6 long years. The last time I saw them was when we graduated, we’ve gone our separate ways and pursued our own careers. Literally 6 long years.

It just equates that I have also been working for 6 years. Fresh our of college, I had a job waiting for me. I lasted 6 months. It wasn’t the career path I wanted. I took it for the experience.

A month after, I was working in a bank for as a junior assistant manager for customer service. The title sounds so proper and high paying, but behind that I was on the phone all day talking to clients, answering inquiries, requests and most of all complaints. Can’t complain really and answer back, I was under customer service, you got to have a smile on your face. Everytime. I got tired of the job after a year and 9 months. the upside though is here is where i met hubby. =)

Then worked for an internet search engine. Found my passion and I felt I’ll stay in this industry longer. I did, 2 years and 6 months I think. Had two kids during that. But somewhere along the way, people changed and I wasn’t or didn’t like the change at all.

Took a break, became a full time mom for about 6 months, found another job, stayed there for 4 months. Politics became quite dirty. It was like working in the government. For some reason, I think my boss hated my guts, the way I work and the way how I easily made friends. (in short – insecure).

Currently, working for almost 2 months in one of the companies I have dreamed of being part of. It was all under “how I wish I could work for this oompany” and here I am. And this time I have this gut feeling that I’m going to last longer than 2 years.

Not unless we migrate earlier than expected though. =)

Looking forward to catching up with my friends too.

-funny how this blog entry was supposed to be about meeting up with my friends, turned into a flashback of who I worked for.

That’s what I get for free writing/typing.
