sweeter than usual

last night, while hubby and i were taking a break after kyle's simple birthday dinner, hubby suddenly asked out of the blue:

" do you want to do anything this weekend? just the two of us?"

it was a sweet gesture. but i just had to ruin the moment (unintentionally of course) by saying:

"who will take care of kade then?"

if i were in my right mind, i should've said yes in a heartbeat for a little quality time with my hubby after a long time. but he mommy mode just had to kick in.

it was too late to take back what i said but hubby was kind enough to make sure that we will have our quality time soon. at least he now realizes that we both need a break from being parents and from being corporate slaves.

and once in a while we need to bring back the sweetness. *kilig*

now time to schedule that harry potter movie date :D

bring on the cheese

last night, hubby called me up. his voice was a bit depressed. he must be tired from work, i thought. he said he's on his way to pick me up and we need to talk.

uh-oh this is something serious. i hope it's not family related, i thought. as soon as he arrived, he looked forlorn. he started his speech like this:

bear, di ko na kaya to eh. di ko kasi masabi lahat sa iyo kaya sinabi ko na lang kay tigger lahat ng nararamdaman ko. di ko kasi alam kung paano sasabihin sa iyo kaya idinaan ko na lang kay tigger.

huh? tigger? why is a disney character involved?

and then he handed this to me:

can you say cheesy?

we were laughing our heads off with his cheesy lines. kilig factor rating 100/10. perfect score. and totally out of the blue. rare, special and definitely romantic indeed.

why the gesture? because he knows i love tigger, because he knows we have been blessed the past few days, because he knows i've been biting his head off lately about being more of a dad than just the provider to the kids.

and basically, just because.

now, how will i top that? oh yeah, another baby boy for him. haha but seriously, it's so hard to beat this sweetness.

*now basil the plant has a new companion in my cube :D

** and yes hubby did ask me to blog about it. haha

a little more each day

my kyle is a little boy no more. everyday, he learns something new and it amazes me that in just a few months, i'll have a 4 year old as a first born. how time flies that he has been quite dependent. a few things he can do on his own:

> go to the potty to pee
> take off his clothes before taking a bath
> get water
> eat on his own using adult sized utensils (bitin siya when he uses those kiddie sized ones)
> try to tie his shoelaces

and the latest achievement since last night: he can finally write his name without any assistance.

i got so teary-eyed that here is my little boy gaining more independence each day. part of me got scared that one day, he won't need me anymore. part of me wanted to keep him like that forever.

it was such a milestone for kyle and i because all the effort we went through in learning the letters of his name, to actually trying to write it on paper. he can already spell out his name (in case he gets lost daw (oh dear) and tell the guard his name.

i can't wait for his next milestone. i may not get to spend 100% of my time with him but i am happy that i still get to see his milestones. that i somehow get blessed in getting the chance to actually witness it for the first time. this is such a reward for me as a mom. not only to kyle but also to keon who, is sharing his own milestones with me.

i am truly blessed to have such wonderful kids. i can't wait what this third little wonder can do in the future.

mother's day for the 4th time

i may not have photos to capture the moment but spending time with my kids are the best gifts ever. hearing them call out to mommy with such need and urgency makes me love my job.

and the best part, i get to be mom all over again, once this little bundle comes out. which by the way still keeps the gender a big mystery! it would have been a great mother's day gift to know right? but that's for next week i guess.

and of course, to my mom who has been enduring all our drama for 28 years. nobody does it better. :)

happy mother's day to all the mommies out there!

thursday night laughs

last night before we went to bed, hubby and i were discussing our wedding preps for next year. it was a serious conversation which turned downright funny.

hubby: wag na tayo mag reception, chruch na lang ang pag gastusan natin. tapos yung gwon mo saka suit ko rent na lang. haha
me: paano kaya yun? ayos ah.
hubby: madali lang tsaka tipid pa.
me: paano nga?
hubby: after ng reception, mag aabot na lang tayo ng juice at mamon sa mga guests. ok na yun.
me: langya, ang labo nun. (at this point i was laughing my heart out at the thought and the mental image)
me: tapos iaabot natin zesto saka goldilocks mamon.
hubby: pag ninong at ninang, c2 saka ensaymada naman para may distinction. (when he said this, we couldn't stop laughing anymore to the point we were almost crying)
me: oo nga, ganun na lang noh? tipid pa.

but of course, i had to have the last statement:

me: buti na lang joke lang yan noh?

things you discover while shopping

an officemate gave us the shock of our lives over lunch today (yes, you again shar! hihi) by bringing this monster of a banana which she found while shopping the night before.

who would have thought that a banana could grow to 11 inches and that huge? which of course sparked a lot of double meanings and naughty ideas from the usual lunch group. who wouldn't really?

and as proof, here's a comparison of the banana vs. the unwilling umbrella. (lol)

and in this moment i am happy...

i don't need any fancy wedding, a hundred and more guests, an elegant gown, high heeled shoes...
as long as in that moment i know i am with you, nothing else matters...

i am not asking for something grand, just the thought of sealing our love is worth it. and yes, you have to fulfill a promise to my grandma.

100 words and monday work blues

you held my hand tightly. Snuggled beside me. Fought the monsters under the bed and those in my mind.

Your smell was a comforting hug. Your breath was a steady hum. You had this calming effect on me ever since you came into my life.

A single tear fell across my cheeks. I didn’t notice you saw it. I didn’t know you were watching me the whole time.

You wiped it away. Held my hand, kissed me and said:

It’s ok mommy, I’m here for you.

And you made me cry all over again. and this time with happy tears.

~~~
i didn't realize it until i looked in my planner that it has been 6 months today that i have been working for THE company. and with pride i am happy to say that i am now a regular employee. after little hiccups along the way and some drama and paranoid thoughts. everything paid off. and to those who have been bombarded with my drama, thank you for the patience and sticking with me and keeping me sane. it means a lot!
~~
been quite delinquent with LP entries. didn't have enough time to focus on my entries. but of course, work has to come first no matter what. =)
~~
and starting today, i'm going jogging. and i'm blogging about the experience tomorrow. too bad i don't have my camera today. left it on top of the bed while i was changing bags. boo!
happy monday blues to you! =)
proud mommy moment
the moment they utter the word mommy with such need and pleading for love, makes me the mom of the universe.
especially now that Keon can really call me mama with such command that i have to drop everything i'm doing and give him my undivided attention. nothing less. and the way he would greet me every morning with such sunshine in his smiles erases the sleepless night, the stress, the worries of the previous day. poles apart from his kuya, who's mr. grouchy pants. haha but - i'm the only one he wants to be with when he wakes up. no one else, not even daddy. haha
another milestone keon has is he can clearly identify who's mommy in pictures apart from me and my mom and other family members.
now all he has to learn is how he can call me mommy when my mom wants to be called mama. but that is a work in progress.
i sure have the greatest kids on earth. =)
project potty training: success!
Potty training days are over. We have succeeded!
I have mentioned a few months back about our struggle to potty train kyle for the mere fact that he has this unexplainable fear of the potty. But, all the bribery, the rewards, the threats and pleading had paid off (yeah, bad mommy moment, but when you have kids, you sometimes resort to desperate measures).
So anyway, last satruday was the most amazing day ever. Kyle had finally peed in the potty. With a little help from yaya and mommy.
So, what was the tactic? At first, it was with the help of hubby to demonstrate to kyle how boys make weewee. It was hard for me to teach him since he knows mommy is a girl. One technique I figured out to have him pee was to let him play with water in a pail. But these moments were brought about by peeing on the floor, choosing to pee outside the house “watering the plants” which I let him but with a firm reminder that the next time he does that, he’ll pee in the potty.
After weeks of accidents and nappy-less mornings, kyle can now walk nappy free at home and informs us if he wants to pee.
Such an amazing milestone! No pictures yet since he prefers to have me there while he pees. Unfortunately for hubby who has been a great influence on his peeing skills haven’t seen kyle in action. Always late in seeing him pee. The moment he reaches the toilet is when kyle starts to flush his pee.
Oh, and imagine our reactions everytime he finishes peeing. It’s a celebration, even keon joins the clapping for his kuya. And the look of pride and accomplishment on kyle’s face. Priceless.
So now, project potty training has moved to potty training 2: the poo sessions.
We’re looking forward to a nappy-free kyle before the year ends.
Next on the agenda: project potty: keon xyrus. Which is in progress already.
Let’s cheer for kyle’s new milestone! This for sure merits a new toy for him for a job well done!
This is what a great mommy moment feels like. And thank you to the mommies who have shared their encouragement and tips! Special mention to KEROL!
kyle's first day in school and a few tears were shed
quite eventful getting him to wear clothes since he was having a hard time sleeping or adjusting to our bed again in makati. (we stayed in mandaluyong a good 2 months methinks).
but on the way to school was smooth sailing. he was quite excited really.
when we arrived, he readily approached teacher monique and played with the toys. i left him for a while with his nanny to buy his uniform. i came back, yaya aisa was coming out of the room already. she said kyle was having fun and not a tear shed.
so whose tears were shed? mine.
when i last peeked in his classroom. kyle saw me and said: "bye mommy!" it was his way of saying, mommmy, i'm ok. i'm having fun. there's no need for me to cry since i know my classmates already. i'm a big boy now
and there i started to cry.
his is a big boy now. and the conversations we have are quite adult already.
in a few years, it's keon's turn.
no more babies. all i have are grown boys. =)
Momma Stuff Question Week 3: Baby Names
i know there's a week 4 question already, but better late than never and no entry at all :)
Question of the week:
Now, for this week’s question: What are the names of your kids? Who picked them? Any significance of that name/s?
Here's my entry:
i never planned on choosing my kid's names based on their meanings but i based it on pure gut feeling if it would fit/match with their personality when they grow up and if it will match their surnames. it's hard thinking of a good name when the kids have a chinese surname. or maybe it was just me. :)
kyle xavier
why kyle? why xavier? well, even before i got married, i really wanted one of my kids to be named kyle. initially, kyle was supposed to be named kyle adrian, then changed to kyle anthony when i was pregnant with him. hubby thought it was unwise to name his firstborn after him thinking kyle might go down the same "path" as daddy when he was single. haha
in the end, we decided on kyle xavier. and with the momma stuff question, i had to do my research to find out the meaning behind my little boy's name:
kyle: means narrow or straight
xavier: means bright, splendid
now, isn't that a great description for my little boy?
keon xyrus
notice a pattern? haha when we found out i was pregnant again, without question, we decided that the next son/daughter will have the same initials as his/her kuya. at first i thought i was having a girl, a name was prepared already (i won't divulge here, baka gayahin eh) but still with the KX initals. lo and behold, we found out we were having a boy. so hubby and i thought hard for a name that would suit this little bundle of energy. so, why keon xyrus? keon, because it sounded unique and you don't get to meet anyone named keon right? for his second name, it was quite hard thinking of a name that would match keon. good thinking care of hubby while driving on the way home. xyrus was the perfect match. we tweaked the name a bit, since it was supposed to be cyrus. just to align with the KX initals.
keon: of Zeus
xyrus: sun, lord, throne
fits my little bunso just right. a name worthy of a god. haha
